Hi! I'm Hee Jae!
This website is dedicated to documenting my photography journey. Photography is a beautiful art, and it's a medium for people to share their own unique stories and styles. I wanted to utilize my school program, Catalyst, to explore photography and document my learning here!
I will be keeping a diary of everything I did, from successes to failures for others, such as aspiring photographers (like me!) to follow and learn from as well.
I will be photographing different cultural places in Singapore in the span of four months, and these photos will be uploaded on my Instagram page: hiddenplaces_sg. While shots that are satisfactory will be posted there, I will be sharing some outtakes I have along the journey as well, since not everything will be perfect in one try.
*Camera that I will be using is a Nikon D3300!
Why is this important to me?
My project consists of photography and cultural learning of Singapore. But why the two combination?
As I started modeling last year, I was exposed to numerous photographers, who all had their different styles of portraying their images. I soon started wondering how being a photographer felt like; therefore, I decided to try out photography using this project.
As for the cultural aspect, Singapore has been my home for 18 years: I was born and raised here. Going into my last year here in Singapore, I took the time to reflect on my life here. I realized that I knew Singapore as much as my friends who have stayed here for a few years only. Before I left my country, I decided that I wanted to explore the small island more and understand more of its culture, and share this with the general public for tourists or anyone living here as well.
